Philosophy of Good 2 Go Fitness

Good-2-Go Fitness and Lifestyle is a fitness business going through a constant evolution. By dealing with me, you are working with a person who has "been there, done that". By personally having lost over 110 pounds and revamping my lifestyle over the past 19 years, I have been frequently sought out to help others in their quest for a better life.

Good-2-Go is a unique fitness concept believing that there are no "canned" exercise prescriptions. The philosophy of the business is to design a program that will work within a client's life, not change the life all at once to fit the ideal healthy lifestyle. Steps to change are just that. Steps. If too many changes are brought into a person's world at the same time, there is little chance of the change surviving more than four to six weeks.

Established in 2005 to the Columbia Valley of British Columbia, the concept of mountain living has become fundamental to how Good-2-Go Fitness operates. Whether you are interested in outdoor adventure pursuits, starting a resistance training program, or simply evaluating your current lifestyle and targeting areas for improvement - Good-2-Go Fitness can work with you.

Transitions in Life

In the beginning, there was a country girl who loved all things that had four legs and fur. She was not athletic jock type, but did do a lot of work helping her folks on the ranch.

Throughout her teenage years she, like all kids, went through good and bad times. Unfortunately, she ended up making some silly choices that lead to some very poor lifestyle habits. They included smoking cigarettes, drinking excessive alcohol and hanging around people whose idea of physical activity was driving to and from the bar. By 1989 she was a mess.

By 1991, she had realized that she didn't want to live a life filled with abuse. She got a new job and moved to a new town. One day she went to see a doctor. The doctor was sad. He said "Young lady, you are twenty one years old, you weight 220 pounds, you smoke - if you don't make some changes to your life, and you won't live another 21 years".

Now the young gal was angry - how dare anyone tell her that she was a mess! But in the back of her mind, she knew the doctor was 100% correct. So she started walking. She walked everywhere. Through snow, sleet, heat - even home from the bar! She started to walk in the mountains - this mountain walking would grow on her over time.

The job turned into a career. She moved to Calgary, worked during the day and went to university at night. And then a scary thing happened. The company she worked issued a decree from above stating "No more smoking on work premises". Spooked that she may gain back some of the weight she had lost, she went to a gym. Spoke to a lady trainer. Got on a program. The young lass managed not only to quit smoking, but she also continued to loose even more weight!

It was not all a bunch of roses. There were setbacks with smoking. There were times she hurt herself trying new things. But she persevered. She fell in love. The woman became a very successful professional, with an outside office, parking and very open expense account. She traveled throughout the continent. Golfed, ran road races – even completed a marathon!

Then one day the wheels came off the wagon. There was a very bad motorcycle accident. The man she loved was terribly injured. She spent months at the hospital trying to help him. Searching for answers. She didn't go to the gym. She didn't default to bad, old lifestyle habits; instead she just walked – for hours at a time.

Life moved on and so did the woman. After 18 months of existing, she finally went back to the gym. She started running into people who had no idea who she was. Friends and acquaintances would ask the woman how she had lost the weight and kept it off. So she decided to go to school and get trained in the area of fitness. She wanted to share her experiences and help others. She moved to a new town, pursued her passion with photography, and best of all, fell in love with all life has to offer.

It could be said that the rest is history - but history is being made everyday!
